IB Math Applications & Interpretation Tutoring

Personalised HL & SL support for Hong Kong students. Master statistics, modelling, and real-world problem solving with tutors who know the AI syllabus inside out.

15+ Years 90% Score 6 or 7 10,000+ Students

IB Mathematics Applications and Interpretation (AI) is designed for students who want to use mathematics to describe, model, and solve real-world problems. The course emphasises statistics, mathematical modelling, and the practical use of technology — making it ideal for students heading into business, social sciences, medicine, psychology, or design.

Both SL and HL are fully supported. If your child finds the abstract, proof-heavy side of maths challenging but thrives with data and real contexts, AI is likely the right fit — and our tutors will help them achieve their best possible grade.

What We Help You Master

Complete syllabus coverage across all five AI topics, with a focus on the areas students find most challenging: statistics, modelling, and the IA.

Statistics & Probability
The largest AI topic. Descriptive statistics, distributions (binomial, normal, Poisson), chi-squared and t-tests, regression, and correlation.
Modelling & Functions
Fitting real data to linear, quadratic, exponential, and sinusoidal models. HL adds logistic functions and further analysis.
Algebra & Number
Sequences, financial maths (compound interest, annuities, amortisation), logarithms. HL adds systems of equations and complex numbers.
Geometry & Trigonometry
3D geometry, Voronoi diagrams, and graph theory. HL extends into adjacency matrices and network optimisation.
Internal Assessment
Full IA guidance — topic selection, data collection, mathematical analysis, and write-up. Worth 20% of the final grade.
GDC & Exam Technique
Both AI papers allow calculators. We teach efficient GDC workflows alongside time management and question interpretation strategies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily — it's different. AI focuses on applied maths and statistics rather than abstract proof and calculus. Students who are naturally drawn to data, patterns, and real-world contexts often find AI more intuitive and engaging, while others who prefer pure maths may find AA more straightforward.

Most university programmes accept AI, but some STEM courses (engineering, physics, mathematics) specifically require AA. In our consultation, we'll help you check requirements for your target universities to make sure you're on the right track.

Most AI students have 1–2 sessions per week. During IA preparation or before exams, some add an extra session. We'll tailor the schedule to your child's needs and goals.

Both. Our centre is in Wan Chai, and we also offer fully interactive online sessions via video call with a shared whiteboard. Many families use a mix of both.
