Primary and junior maths sets the trajectory for everything that follows. Students who reach Year 10 with shaky foundations in number, algebra, or geometry consistently struggle with IGCSE — even when they are bright and hardworking. Our Primary Maths programme for Year 5 to Year 8 is designed to prevent that from ever happening.

Whether your child attends a British, German, French, Canadian, or American international school in Hong Kong, we match our teaching to their specific curriculum, pace, and learning style. Sessions are encouraging, structured, and genuinely engaging — because a student who enjoys maths learns maths faster.

Tailored to Every Year Group

Each year group has a distinct focus so tuition always meets your child exactly where they are.

Year 5
Number sense, place value, fractions and early multiplication & division. Bridging the gap from primary arithmetic to structured mathematical thinking.
Year 6
Ratios, percentages, introduction to algebra and equations, area & perimeter. Common Entrance readiness for students sitting 11+ or 13+ assessments.
Year 7
Negative numbers, linear equations, angles & geometry, data handling. A pivotal year — strong Year 7 maths directly predicts IGCSE performance.
Year 8
Simultaneous equations, Pythagoras, probability and statistical analysis. Full IGCSE readiness — most Year 8 students can begin IGCSE-level work with us.

Topics We Cover

Full coverage of the maths curriculum from Year 5 through Year 8, aligned to all major international school frameworks in Hong Kong.

Number & Arithmetic

Geometry & Measurement
Angles, properties of shapes, perimeter, area, volume, transformations and Pythagoras’ theorem — essential for IGCSE geometry topics.
Statistics & Probability
Collecting, organising and interpreting data; averages, range; basic and combined probability. Builds critical thinking alongside number skills.
Problem Solving
Multi-step word problems, logical reasoning and mathematical communication — skills that separate good from outstanding at every level.

What Our Families Say

Thanks to Harvey for all the great work this year with Newton. He had an A in his end of year exam. Knowing that he is at GSIS and in a fairly advanced math group, that’s really a great result.

Gaëlle Andersson
Parent — German Swiss International School

What I like is how the tutor is fantastic at explaining difficult topics, and breaking them down so they are easier to understand. Very methodical, and teaches alternative perspectives.

JC

Year 8 — German Swiss International School

Francky has been a fantastic support. My son went from dreading maths homework to actually asking for extra practice sheets. The confidence boost alone has been worth every session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. Year 5 is actually the ideal time to start, before bad habits or gaps in number sense become ingrained. Many of our most successful IGCSE and IB students started working with us in Year 5 or 6. Early support builds the confidence that sustains performance throughout secondary school.

Yes. We support all major frameworks used in Hong Kong international schools, including IB PYP/MYP, Cambridge Lower Secondary, British National Curriculum, French nationale, and German Gymnasium. Our tutors align sessions to your child’s specific school content and upcoming assessments.

We love it. For able students, we extend beyond the school syllabus — introducing IGCSE topics early, developing algebraic fluency, and building the deeper problem-solving skills that distinguish top performers at every level. Many of our Year 7–8 students comfortably handle early IGCSE content.

Both. Our centre is in Wan Chai, and we also offer fully interactive online sessions via video call with a shared digital whiteboard. Younger students often thrive in person initially, and many families use a mix of both.

As early as possible — summer spots fill up quickly. We run dedicated Summer Intensive Courses for Teens (Year 8–9) including focused Maths and Physics sessions.
