The SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) is the primary entrance exam for competitive US boarding schools and many international schools worldwide. A strong quantitative score is often the deciding factor in applications to schools like Phillips Exeter, Andover, Choate, and Deerfield.

Our tutors understand both the content and the format. The SSAT rewards speed, strategic guessing, and familiarity with specific question types — skills that go well beyond school maths. We prepare students at the Middle Level (grades 5–7) and Upper Level (grades 8–11) with focused, result-driven instruction.

What We Help You Master

Comprehensive coverage of both SSAT Quantitative sections, plus the test-taking strategies that push scores into the top percentiles.

Arithmetic & Number Sense
Operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and number properties — the foundation that appears throughout both math sections.
Algebra & Patterns
Equations, inequalities, functions, sequences, and word-problem translation — increasingly tested at the Upper Level.
Geometry & Measurement
Area, perimeter, volume, coordinate geometry, and angle relationships — visual questions that reward spatial reasoning.
Data Analysis
Reading charts, tables, and graphs, computing averages, and interpreting data sets — quick-win questions for well-prepared students.
Speed & Pacing
The SSAT is a time-pressured test. We teach strategic pacing, smart skipping, and when to guess versus when to leave blank (no guessing penalty on the new format).
Test-Day Confidence
Timed mock exams, stress management, and familiarity with SSAT question formats — so there are no surprises on the real test day.

What Our Families Say

Francky is an outstanding maths tutor. He explains things clearly and concisely and when Imogen is confused and uncertain about anything taught at school, he is able to clarify any issues immediately. He goes the extra mile all the time to support Imogen's learning.

What I like about Francky is how he is fantastic at explaining difficult topics, and breaking them down so they are easier to understand. He is also very methodical in his approach and teaches alternative perspectives about how to go about problems which is very helpful.

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend starting 3–4 months before the test date. This gives enough time for thorough content review, strategy training, and multiple practice tests. Students with weaker maths foundations benefit from starting earlier.

The SSAT tests content that may be 1–2 years ahead of what students have covered in school. It also emphasises speed, problem-solving under pressure, and question formats that are unfamiliar to most students. Specific SSAT preparation is essential — general maths tutoring is not enough.

The most competitive schools (Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield) typically expect scores in the 85th–99th percentile. Many schools also consider the trend across test dates, so improvement is valued even if the first score is lower.

Both. Our centre is in Wan Chai, and we also offer fully interactive online sessions via video call with a shared whiteboard. Many families use a mix of both.
