About Trevor

Trevor holds a BBA in Business Analytics and Finance with a minor in Accounting from the University of Hong Kong. Alongside his academic background, he has worked as a Student Teaching Assistant at HKU’s School of Computing & Data Science, facilitating weekly lectures and project studios for AILT1001, designing supplementary course materials, and providing academic support for students and online HKU forums. Additionally, Trevor has served as a Student Academic Advisor at HKU Business School, mentoring incoming freshmen on course registration, credit transfer, and major/minor selection strategies within the FBE curriculum. Trevor’s own academic credentials speak directly to the subjects he teaches. He scored 1480 on the SAT with a perfect 800 in Math, earned a TOEFL score of 105 in grade 10, and was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction in both 2024 and 2025 — achieving top scores of 5 in AP Physics, US History, World History, and Macroeconomics, alongside strong results in Microeconomics and Statistics.

Teaching Philosophy

Trevor believes that effective learning is rooted in understanding core concepts and building confidence through practice. He emphasizes diagnosing students’ specific challenges, addressing gaps, and strengthening fundamentals before tackling more complex problems. Underpinning everything is Trevor’s belief in the power of strong communication and encouragement. He advocates for a supportive and motivating environment, where positive reinforcement helps students develop resilience and a growth mindset.

Teaching Methodology & Approach

Trevor’s approach aims to empower students to become independent thinkers who can confidently approach complex questions:

  • Active Problem-Solving: Rather than simply walking students through answers, Trevor builds their problem-solving instincts by encouraging them to reason out loud, test their own ideas, and learn to trust their thinking.
  • Earned Confidence: When students eventually sit down for an exam, the confidence they bring is earned, not borrowed.

    • Teaching Focus & Curriculum Expertise

  • English: General Language and Composition, Literary Analysis, and TOEFL/IELTS preparation.
  • Mathematics: SAT focused preparation, as well as elementary, middle school, and high school materials.
